The Penguins Commemorated the Great Bobblehead Heist With a Six-Foot Bobblehead

Now that the Jaromir Jagr bobbleheads have been located and returned to their rightful home after what we can only assume was an intense period of negotiation, the Pittsburgh Penguins are putting a cap on this saga by erecting a six-foot bobblehead statue of Jagr.

For those who need a quick refresher: 19,000 Jaromir Jagr bobbleheads were supposed to be in Pittsburgh for an arena giveaway. When they didn’t show up, the Penguins had to deal with their supplier and a “special cargo recovery team,” which may or may not have had to pay some sort of ransom for the bobbleheads to make their way from California to Pennsylvania.

Upon arrival, fans were able to cash in a voucher from the original game to pick up their bobbleheads.

It’s a remarkable promo story, full of mystery and intrigue that isn’t usually found in this industry.

For the Penguins to take that national attention and turn it into something to commemorate the occasion, like a life-sized Jaromir Jagr bobblehead (which we think might legally just be called a statue), is pretty fun.
